My sister and I flew from Newark to DC (united) then to Frankfurt < Cairo, In the whole process our 5 bags(3 suitcases and 2 handbags) somewhere did not make a flight since they were all sorts of delayed everywhere. I reported the bags at the airport but the number/code they gave me is not in the system so far so it does not really help. For Egypt, you have to check everyday if the bags made it or not. In the meantime, I need clothes, on their website they have a refund policy for things you buy if your bags are delayed. Now my question is has anyone done this, will they actually pay? Or should I just buy things assuming its not being refunded?

The last airline is the responsible airline. If you read their policy, then you will know what you are able to do and what you must do to submit a claim.
