Air France Delayed Baggage Disaster

Air France Delayed Baggage Disaster

Forum

I had a flight from CDG to Rome (FCO) last Wednesday and I found out my luggage was delayed when I landed in Rome. To make matters worse I had a flight from Rome to ATL a few hours after later so I couldn’t wait for it. This was on June 29th, today is July 7th and now my world tracer is stating my file no longer has access. Never had contact or been able to contact anyone from Air France and now I am exceedingly worried I’ll never see my luggage again.

Last update in worldtracer was it was to be sent on a flight back to CDG and then to ATL on July 1st but those flights got cancelled and the last point I had was it is still in Rome. Baggage services in ATL assured me it was going to be shipped to my house but I have sincere doubts about that with everything going on. I have tried calling, Twitter DM, emailing anyone I could find and all resulted in nothing.

My main question is with the file no longer having access, is my luggage in the abyss never to be seen again? I have the obvious luggage tag from checking it in, stickers from checking it in, and a physical luggage tag with my name on it.

Honestly any words of wisdom regarding this would be invaluable as this has been quite stressful and I am completely lost right now.

Edit: Spoke with agents in person in ATL. They said if the world tracer loses access it likely means the baggage is heading to you. No word on the lack of communication.

Edit 2: Got the luggage! By complete and utter luck the bag arrived in ATL but with 0 correspondence to me! If I wasn’t at the airport and asked the agents in person I honestly do not know if I would have received my luggage. My only advice from this experience is to go in person to your nearest airport and ask for an update in person at baggage services. Not a single bit of assistance was provided to me by calling/emailing Air France. If possible get your baggage tag number!!! This is much more useful than the file reference number in my experience and its what the agents used to track mine. Total time to get my luggage (with the lucky chance of me being at the airport literally the day it got in) was around 15 days from when it got delayed, so it definitely will take time but I think if you have successfully opened a case in person with an agent it is likely to show up!

  1. Ooof my bag was lost at CDG on July 6th. I am increasingly concerned that airfrance is doing diddly about it.

  2. For those who lost access to their file reference #, have you received your baggage yet? Has anyone received it through delivery by any chance?

  3. It was sent to the nearest airport, it did seem like it was scheduled to be delivered to my house but I’m sure that would take a considerable amount of time. ATL said Air France is running 10+ days late. Hope you get yours!

Oh and if the file access is lost that means it is coming to you so that is good news at least.

  4. I just got the baggage today, literally by complete luck. I went to my nearby airport and asked baggage services and it got delivered but with zero communication from Delta/Air France. My luggage got lost a day earlier than yours did so I would try and go visit the airport it is getting forwarded to and see if they can assist you in person, I think its the most efficient way of getting answers currently. I hope it gets to you soon!

Edit: Also if your file reference number isn’t showing up its because they recycled it due to it being closed, so I think that is a good sign!
