I hadn’t been there in about 30 years and it was like night and day frim back then. Stansted is the worst London airport IMHO.

If London were smart, they’d close Heathrow and distribute flight to the remaining three airports temporarily while Heathrow was leveled and rebuilt as a state of the art airport capable of handling all flights, then shut down Gatwick (awful) and Stansted while keeping Luton (quite good since renovation) as secondary airport…

I’m assuming you booked two tickets separately rather than connecting on a single ticket or else your airline would’ve booked you on a new flight. If I’m right, sorry, this is what happens when people book connecting flights separately in the name of saving a few bucks – it’s a gamble, and every so often, it goes bust.

But based on what I know about STN and the airlines operating (Ryanair or Easyjet) there I doubt you had a one ticket connection given that you had to clear immigration for some reason. So no, STN airport doesn’t owe you anything for your missed flight. Neither do either airline. This is the risk you take booking these kinds of itineraries.
